This challenge was the drawing challenge. We had to make a 2D drawing of something that inspired us in some way! This project was worth 10,000 points, so now, I have my grand total of 50,000 points (previous blog post). For this project, I researched on Pinterest to find an anchor that was colorful and catchy. Then, I drew something similar to what I had found when researching, but I still provided my own style. After drawing it, I outlined everything in a black Sharpie to make it pop. From this art project, I have improved my drawing skills tremendously, but I have learned that it is okay if something isn't perfect. If it isn't perfect, it provides an abstract sense to to the project saying that it is yours only. Reflecting on this project, it has inspired me to anchor my faith so that I am secure with Christ. The message of this artwork proves to be a purpose that God is hope for the soul! It reminds everybody to have hope as an anchor with God!
I was photographed with my brother in the iPad lesson Project, and I share a very strong bond with him. I look up to him (literally) because he is such a joyful guy and filled with generosity! The landscape I chose was a sunset because it represents the cheerful and amazing brother I have. I cut out his whole body because it isn't only part of him that is great but all of him is great everyday. I am so thankful to call him my brother and this photo project meant a lot to me! As you click through the slide show, it also shows me with friends I am very close to, but the attempt to do the project with them in the picture was more difficult! The final picture is my brother and I, and the steps I took to create this project!
To start, you sketched out an idea that interested you, and then, you drew it on a linoleum block. You then heated the linoleum block with a blow dryer so when you carved, it would be smooth and easy to cut out. You had to make sure you cut your lines deep enough so they wouldn't show up when you print. Once your idea was carved, you rolled print making ink on the linoleum block to print your idea on paper. You needed to make sure you didn't have to much ink or the printing process wouldn't work, it would come off blurry. Having a clear picture is the key to the process...it takes more than one try! Once you had at least five good prints, you had to cut them out and label them like all art work. I made 7 prints while printmaking, so when I labeled them, it was 1/7, 2/7, 3/7 and so on. This was one of my favorite prints that I made! I happened to choose a cross because I believe really strongly in my christian faith. I wanted to keep my idea simple but classic, so I chose to put the chatter effect in the background. In all, I was really pleased with my print!
